Is Your Land Suitable?
Properties across the US, Canada, and Mexico qualify. Here's what developers look for — but if you're unsure, submit anyway. We evaluate every property individually.
Ideal Land Criteria
- 25+ acres for solar energy projects
- 100+ acres for wind energy projects
- 5+ acres near power infrastructure for battery storage
- Flat to gently rolling terrain
- Good solar exposure (open skies, minimal shading)
- Agricultural, rural, industrial, or undeveloped land
- Proximity to power lines, substations, or fiber
- Located in areas with energy policy support
- Stable land — not in a flood plain
- Not sure? Submit anyway — we evaluate every property

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions from landowners in the US, Canada, and Mexico
Do you work with landowners in Canada and Mexico?
Yes! We actively work with landowners across all 50 US states, all Canadian provinces and territories, and throughout Mexico. Our developer network — solar, wind, battery storage, and commercial — operates North America-wide with experience navigating cross-border legal and energy policy requirements.
How much land do I need?
For solar: 25+ acres ideal. For wind: 100+ acres minimum, 500+ preferred. For battery storage: 5+ acres near power infrastructure. We consider all sizes — submit your property and we'll identify the best use.
How much can I earn?
US rates: $500–$2,000+/acre/year for solar; $3,000–$8,000/turbine/year for wind; $1,500–$4,000+/acre/year for battery storage. Canada: CAD $700–$2,500/acre/year. Mexico: MXN $8,000–$25,000/hectare/year. Rates vary by project type, location, and infrastructure access.
Can I still farm or use my land?
In many cases yes. Dual-use solar (agrivoltaics) allows continued grazing, beekeeping, or crop cultivation. Wind turbines have a very small footprint (~1 acre each), leaving farmland between towers fully operational.
What if I don't own the mineral rights?
Surface rights are typically sufficient for solar and wind leases — they don't involve subsurface resources. Our team will verify the details specific to your jurisdiction at no cost to you.
How long does the process take?
Initial evaluation: 1–2 weeks. Developer matching and lease negotiation: 2–6 months. Construction: 6–18 months. You begin receiving payments at or before construction start, per your agreement.
What happens at the end of the lease?
Developers are contractually required to decommission the equipment and restore your land to its original condition, or the lease can be renewed at current market rates — typically even higher than the original.
Are there tax implications?
Lease income is generally treated as ordinary income in the US. Canada and Mexico have their own tax treatment for energy lease income. We strongly recommend consulting a tax advisor familiar with agricultural income in your jurisdiction. Many landowners also qualify for additional depreciation or conservation benefits.
